SENSATIONAL ARREST.
CONSTABLE USES REVOLVER A sensational arrest was made at Timam in the very early hours of Friday morning, when a revolver lhad to be brought into use to stop a man named Win, Clausen, who had escaped from goal on Wednesday night. The police had made diligent search all day and kept a close watch on every possible avenue of escape. Constable Thomson and Fraser were located close fo Clausen's /iiome, and about midnight, when they were surveying this, and the next street to it, they saw Clausen making away from his home. They called out more than once for him to stop, and threatened to fire if he did not do so. Clausen paid 110 liieed to the commands, but made off, and Constable Thomson, firing low with his revolver, hit him in the buttocks. This effectively stopped the prisoner, who was promptly secured, and taken t,o the public hosital, where. !iie will remain until he has rccoverejj from his wound. It is thought that Clausen merely suffered a flesh ■■wound, and that it will soon heal. Clausen was arrested at Timarti at 3 a.m. on the Sunday before, on a charge of breaking into a dwelling with intent to commit a crime.
