Messrs Hoskin Bros, have received advice that, owing to the influenza at Huntly, the l'aupiri Coal Company is unable to supply coal at present. Mr W. Cook, an old whaler, has started a profitable business in Tonga in the sale of whale meat. Last month he secured two cows and a calf within n fortnight. It was hoped to try out tin blubber, but Bharks were too numersut .earing away huge strips. The sale of the meat resulted in a sum amounting to about £2OO being netted.
