THE BUTTER OFFER.
| * ACCEPTED BY PRODUCERS. THE SHIPPING POSITION. By Wire.—Own Correspondent. | Wellington, Last Night.' The Prime Minister has been informed that the butter producers have decided to accept the offer made by the Imperial Government for New Zealand's output of butter. There hag been considerable delay in reaching this decision, and as the signing of the armistice has intervened, the bargain will not be regarded by the Department of Imperial Supplies as completed until the Imperial authorities have replied. The offer is the one originally made by the British Board of Trade more than a month ago.
Referring to the shipping situation, Mr. Maasey said this evening that ho had not received official confirmation of the cabled statements regarding the improvement in the shipping situation following the armistice, but he had no doubt that the position would become easier very quickly. The suspension of the transport of American troops to France would release many steamers .employed by the Admiralty, and would mean a speedy improvement in the supply of shipping for the transport of foodstuff's. New Zealand, which had large accumulations of produce, would share in the benefit.
