The Mayor of Hawera (Mr E. Dbuon) is suffering from influenza. Mrs Donald Buchanan, of Hawera, passed away on Tuesday at to ripe age of 84 years. She had lived in the district for ahout 40 years. Mrs. A. Marsh, TJphind Road, has received word from the Defence Department that her son P«-rcv has received a gunshot wound in his right arm, and is being sent to hospital m EnglandThe death occurred in the New Plymouth Hospital last night of Mr. Wm, Aish, a very respected settler of Tataraimaka. Deceased, who is survived by his widow and a family of six sons and one daughter, came to New Zealand from Somersetshire about ten years ago, and lias resided in Tataraimaka for several years. •'■'•'
