The following telegraphic summary of war operations for the week ended November 1 has been received by the Prime Minister from the Britisli Ministry of Information. After recapitulating the information already cabled regarding enemy losses, the situation of Czechs in the Ekaterinburg region, London opinion regarding armistice terms, and the conditions in Germany, the report continues: AIRCRAFT WORK. Throughout the week the British aircraft notably contributed to developments on the Western front. Owing, perhaps, to tie improved weather, the eneiiiv at last made increased efforts, and severe air fighting took place over th« Lf> Quesnoy-Valeneiennes railwayDuring four days 59 enemy machines were destroyed and 20 driven down, while 31 British machine* are reported missing. The whole week's bag involves 77 German machines destroyed, 35 driven down, 8 balloons shot down afire, with 54 British jmwhines failing tfo return. A feature of the week's raiding was t'ii? severity and insistence of the attacks delivered by the R.A F. Independent Force on all the usual objectives. On the Italian 'front valuable reconnaissance and photographic enterprises were carried out, preparing for the renewed Allied offensive on' the Piave, and the recent fighting on the Venetian 1 Plain. Low-flying British scouts played a great part rn effectively co-operating with t,h» rapidly-advancing British infantry. Austrian airmen, owing to tceent heavy losses, showed a marked lack of appetite for battle, the British machines missing amounted to an amazingly low total, considering the enormous amount of work accomplished over the fighting zone.
