INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC.
Wellington, Nor. 4. In consequence of the influenza at Auckland, the Defence authorities have decided not to mobilise the Auckland quota ol recruits, about 130, who were to enter camp this week . It is probable, too, that a number of .Rarotongans who were expected to arrive in New Zealand shortly will be sent back to their homes- Four medical officers have I)efiu released from military dirty and left fo| Auckland ou Saturday. TROUBLE OVER THE KAITUNA; Westport, Nov. 4. The Ivaituna arrived yesterday, ths major pji'tion of the crew being stricken with influenza. The watersiders refused to work her, and demanded hej removal further down the stream and that she be fumigated. The workers also asked for an indemnity in caso the disease spreads. There is much indignation hope against the authorities for allowing tjhe ship to come to the wharf. One ot tho enjw was taken to the hospital.
