MOA ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING;. The monthly meeting of the Moaßoad Board was held at Inglewood on Saturday. Mr. A. Corkiil (chairman) presided, and there were also present: Messrs J. B. Simpson, R. Stewart, F. AEecsby, T. Bowler, P. J. Braeegirdle, D. Todd, J. Hunter, and E. J. H. Lyon. The chairman welcomed Mr. Lyon to the board table, and expressed the belief that his knowledge of local requirements would be of assistance to tlie board. Mr. Lyon suitably replied.

. INGLEWOOD COUNTS An intimation was received from Mr C. A- Wilkinson, M.P., that he would be pleased to introduce and take chargp of the Inglewood County Bill, in Parliament. The Hon. 0. Samuel also agreed to take charge of the Bill in the Legislative Council. The Stratford County wrote that a committee had been set up to meet the >foa Road Board representatives on the matter, with full power to arrange details of boundary alterations. The chairman reported that the committees from tlie two met mid definitely agreed upon r 3 "boundaries.

OVERSEER'S REPORT. Tho overseer (Mr. E. C. Gray) reported he had been engaged chiefly at tlie pipe depot and in laying off work for the season. There were now IV4 pipes in hand. Unfavorable weather had prevented vork at tho Mana Roarl washout. Arrangements had been made with Messrs Wickham and Jones for the metalling of N/raro Road. Mr. J. Rowan had delivered 30yds ot shingle (it the pipe depot. The tilling on the Bristol Road required raising and an additional set of pipes put in to carry .away the storm-water. General maintenance work had been carried out on the Lincoln Road, and water tabling and l>ankin«-up metal, and similar work had been carried out on tho York, Dudley East, and Durham East Roads, and a slip cleared on the Mangaone Road. Eleven 12in pipes had been set in on tlie Durham Road west, and patching and water tabling was at present in hand on that road. It was decided to accept the offer of A. Hill to supply teams to work with the plant for the coming season at t'ie prices submitted through the overseer. EVERETT ROAD BRIDGE. John Goller reported that, as requested, ho had, in company with tlifc board's foreman, inspected the bridge on the Everett Road, and found thai to build a bridge in ferro-concrete, to satisfy Government requirements, would be a rather large order. The .ipan required would be about Soft, with llift wing wails, and the height from the water would be about 14ft. Ho estimated the cost about £'Bso. He considered a hardwood bridge could be built much more cheaply and be sufficiently strong for traffic purposes for the next 40 years. It was decided to proceed with the erection of tho bridge at the earliest opportunity, at a cost not to exceed the amount originally allocated for tie bridge.

GENELAR. An intimation was received of tho meeting of county and road board delegates at Eltliam on Tuesday next foi the purpose of considering the question of uniform by-laws. The chairman and Messrs Todd and Bowler were appointed to represent tho boardIn regard to Mr. H- Trimble's. objection to two of liis sections being included in the Norfolk Road special rating area, the chairman pointed out that _it had been the custom in the past to include only j.ho half of corner sections ,in special road rating areas, and he saw no reason why that course should not .be adhered to.—Tho board agreed to that course.

Messrs Lyon and Todd reported on the hydro-electrical conference at Stratford, and'on the motion- of the chairman they- were accorded' a hearty.- vote of thanks for- their- services..
