SOCIETY NEWS. Last evening, the choir of St. Maryd Church held a -musical social, in the scholrocm in aid of funds for the electric lighting of the Sunday sc'hool. The first part of the programme -was musical, items being provided by Mrs Wilkes, Misses Hirst, Hine, M. The annual sports of the Nsw Plymouth Girls' High School took place on Thursday at tho school grounds, and although the weather was not all that could be desired, there was a splendid gathering of parents and visitors. Afternoon tea, the proceeds going to Dr. Barnado's Home, was served in the assembly hall, the tables being very prettily decorated with yellow and pink azaleas. In the sports events themselves, some very creditable records were put up, the senior championship being won by T. Burrcll, and the junior by W. Young.
