■ N.2, EXPEDITIONARY' FORCE, HOME SERVICE BRANCH, APPLICATIONS for employment in home service in the following capacities are invited from menVbetween the ages of 10 and 50: Bakers, Bandsmen, Blacksmiths, Bootmakers, Butchers, Camp Police, Canteen Attendants, Carpenters, Clerks for Camps. Clerks for offices in towns, Cooks, Drivers (Horse), Farriers, Guards for Internment Camps, etc., Garrison Artillerymen, Laborers, Military Police, Motor Drivers, Musketry Fatigue Men, Musketry Instructors, Orderlies, Painters, Saddlers, Sanitary Men, Sanitary Police, Storemen, Trtimpeters, Tinsmiths, Typjste; Veterinary Grooms. * 2. Applications cannot he entettaiijfjd from men of the following categories! (a) Those under orders for camp". (b) Those whose appeals hate been adjourned sine die. (c) Those who have been called up,in , the ballot and hare not been medically examined. (d) Those employed in the Public Service or in industries essential to the Statc'B interests. 3. Successful applicants will be required to pass a medical examination, and will then be posted to the Expeditionary Force, Home Service Branch, but will be transferred to the Foreign Service Branch upon becoming eligible for active service under the Military Service Act. 4. While employed on home service the rates of pay and allowances of private soldiers will be as under: (a) If employed in camps or barracks, 5s per day, with lodgings and rations. (b)) If employed outside camps or barracks, 5s per day with 4s per day in lieu of lodgings and rations. (c) A married allowance of Is per day. (d) A children's allowance ofj|9d per day for each child up to a maximum of 2s 3d per day. (e) The rate of pay of Military Police is 6s per day, with allowances as above. (f) Artificers and tradesmen employed at their trades, Motor Drivers and Mechanics, Clerks, Horse Drivers,. Storemen, Cooks, Bakers and Sanitary Details employed in camps receive 2s per day working pay , in addition to daily pay (a). 5. Promotion, carrying extra pay, will be made on merit, in accordance with establishment. O.Free clothing, boots and medical attention will be provided in all case?. 7. Preference in all cases will be given to returned soldiers. 8. Applications must be made personally to the Officer in Charge of the nearest Defence Group or Area Office D.C.W.
