o The death from wounds has teen reported of James Sedddn Butterworth, 14th Reinforcements, a son of the late Mr. James Butterworth. Mr. Gus. Sole has received advice that his son, Trooper Percy B. Sole, has been admittted to 27Eth "General Hospital, Cairo, with malaria (slight). The Eev. T. H. C. Partridge, MA, lias been appointed to the Ohura-Whanga-momona Mission District, in the place of the Eev, H. W. Smith, who has removed to Hamilton. Mr. W. Allen has received word that his son, Private C. (Bunny) Allen has been admitted to hospital, London, suf?crin« from wounds. Private Allen is a member of the local fire brigade. The following Justices of the Peace have been appointed:—Messrs P.Darke, ■Okoke; E. F- H. Hemingway, Pateaj P. Boss, Te Anga, Awakino; R- Were, Mangachae, Awakino. —Press Assoc. Mrs. B. O'Neill, Urenui, has received advice that her son, Trooper J. S. (Tap) O'Neill, has been admitted to the 27th General Hospital, Cairo suffering from severe malaria. The Hon. W. C. F. Carncros3 was yesterday elected Speaker of the Legislative Council and congratulated by Sir Francis Bell and the members. —Press Assoc. The death occurred unexpectedly at an early on Wednesday of Mr. Arthur Bunny, solicitor and Crown Prosecutor for the Wtirarapa, at the age of seventy-three years. 'Deceased had been suffering from influenza, but sustained hemorrhage of the brain, which caused death. The late Mr. Bunny, who was the second son of the late Mr. Henry Bunny, a former member of the House of Representations, was born at Newbury, Berkshire, England, and was educated in Wellington, and admitted to the Bar in 187& One of his brothers is Mr. F. P. Bunny, of Lower Hutt. He leaves a widow and family of seven.
