"PEG 0' MY HEART;' Playgoers may We assured of a bomiie •ctfmecly heroine in the person of the new Irish actress, Miss Sarii Allgood, who is already known in many of the great centres of the United Kingdom of the character. Miss Allgood is a Dublin girl who joined the now famous Abbey Players when they formed merely an'&ipa-.. tenr dramatic club, appearing from' 1 time to time at concert halls. Their clever interpretations of Irish pieces enlisted the sympathies of a number of distinguished authors, poets, and playwrights,! notably George Moore, Barnard Shaw. George .Russell (a poet known as •A.E." who botli paints ami takes an interests' in practical poliiffes), Lord Montague, Yeats, and Lady Gregory. The result was that one of the group (Miss Horntman, of Manchester) subsidised, the players, and built the Abbey Theatre. Dublin, for them. Miss Allgood remained with them seven years, visiting London latterly for an annual season, and when Miss Horniman opened the Gaiety Theatre, Manchester, the young actress appeared as Isabelle in "Measure for Measure," and also had the honor of appearing in that beautiful character at the Stratford-on-Avon Memorial Theatre. After supporting Marie Lohr In "The Little Minister," the young actress began to tour in leading parts, and ap- | pcarcd for twenty weeks at Peg just before sailing for Australia. Hartley Manners' heroine is a bright Irish girl from the wilds of the Western States of America, who settles in a haughty English household, is morally frozen nearly to death by them, but eventually conquers everyone by her charm. The" play wilt ,be produced hy the original company With the Kew English Company which opens at the Good Templar Hall, for a, two-nights' season on Tuesday and Wednesday next.
