The Daily Chronicle says: Respite reporis lo the contrary tne Germain have recalled their submarines, and there has been a cessation of submarine warfare for four days. The impression in Parliamentary circles is that the war is jiishing to a close, and t'.'.iat peace before Christmas is highly probable. It is inevitable that Parliament must .be dissolved in a few weeks, and the dissolution may he expected to follow swiftly upon the armistice. Tlie political correspondent of the Daily Telegraph suggests as polling day November 23 or 30, or December 7. ■ Newspapers point out the importance of the Austrian pleading for a separate peace further isolating Germany, and insist that Germany must herself seek the terms of an armistice, since the Allies are not proposing it, as Dr. SolfN Note to President Wilson impudently suggested. A Central News telegram from Constantinople says that Turkey has officially opened peace negotiations with the Entente. President Wilson sent all the correspondence to the Allies.
