At the Chambers of Commerce conference there was a long discussion on a remit that all profiteering departments of the State, in cases where the whole of the profits are not paid into the Consolidated Fund, or where they are not already liable for income tax and land tax, should be made liable for income tax and land tax in the same manner and under the same conditions as private businesses are made liable. That all local authorities should be made liable for income tax and land tax in respect of their commercial activities, was eventually carried by. 17 votes to 12. Rc<*ardine; the taxation of companies, it was decided to urge upon the Government the necessity for amending the Act, and also to urge the Minister for Finnr.ee to apply to all incomes derived from capital invested in registered -undertakings the like Tnea.snre of graduation In fnxntinn as is already permissible in the caes of incomes drawn from similar undertakings not so registered.
