ATTEMPTED COUP D'ETAT.
. - CAUSE OF LUDENDORFF'S FALL. .. KAISER AND ARMY LEADERS RECRIMINATIONS. e Received Oct, 30, 2.30 a.m. London, Oct. 2fl. The latest German news Buggests that Ludendorli' was thrown overboard while attempting a military coup d'etat ill Berlin. His dismissal has created extraordinary excitement amongst the Berliner's, who think it the prelude to the Kaiser's abdication. * The wildest stories are current regarding the supposed quarrels between the Kaiser, Hindenburg and Ludendorll', respecting his abdication, in the course of Which the Kaiser retorted; "Your dispute as to the funeral arrangements are rather tedious to the corpse." The Frankfurter Zeitung corroborates the coup d'etat theory, stating that the military party attempted and failed to upset the Government. A Hague correspondent paints out that altihough the Kaiser reluctantly allowed Ludendorff to go, the actual power still remains with the army leaders. A coup d'etat may yet succeed if there is sufficient army backing.—Aus. N.2. Cable Assoc. GERMANY'S ATTITUDE. NEW-FOUND POLITICAL LIBERTY. ! KAISER CALLED UPON TO ABDICATE Received Oct. 30, 1.50 a.m. London, Oct. 28. Germany's attitude iu the immediate future is likely to be the outcome of internal, economical and political developments, rather than military. The latest indication is flaming speeches marking a red letter Reichstag sitting, in Which other Independents besides Herren Ledebour and Cohn boldly hurled insults at the Kaiser, Ludendorff and Hindenburg, which, if uttered in 1017, would have been followed by immediate imprisonment. The Rhineland Social Democrats have issued a manifesto stating that if the Kaiser does not abdicate he will be removed. On the other hand, the Junker press continues rigorously to oppose his abdication, even hiniing at their preference! for civil war rather than to see elected a president of a Gel-man republic. j j Amsterdam, Oct. 2S. | In the Reichstag the Independent Socialist, Herr Cohn, amid great commotion and applause, declared that the alternatives were war with the Hoheuzollerns or peace without the Hohenzollerns. We extend our hand to friends beyond the frontiers in this struggle. The Socialist Ruhle said the Kaiser must abdicate, and was thereupon called to order. He retorted: "The call to order will not save the Ivaiser from the criminal court." PANIC IN WEST RHINELAND, RIOTOUS PEACE DEMONSTRATIONS. Oct. 30, 2 a.m. London, Oct. 29.
