THE PRINCESS SOPHIA DISASTER. NO HELP POSSIBLE. Received Oct. 28, 1.50 p.m. Vancouver, Oct. 27. The rescue vessels are alongside the wrecked Princess Sofia, but are unable to render help. GALE PREVENTED TRANSFER OF PASSENGERS. Received Oct. 28, 2.35 p.m. Vancouver, Oct. 27. The Princess Sophia was bound northward from Skagway. Nearly all aboard were Alaskans. The ship struck at 3 o'clock on Thursday morning, but it was impossible to transfer any passengers because of the gale, which continued until the vessel sank.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. DISTRESS SIGNALS.
