CHRISTCHURCH TRAMWAY TROUBLE.

In connection with the tramway trouble, the hoard, in an official state-1 lnen't issued this afternoon, says the limit to its patience in regard to tiie "go-slow" policy of the men has now been reached, and the men against whom clear cases can be proved will be discharged from the service- In view of the personal character of some of the communications of the union secretary, also its arbitrary and unreasonable attitude, and inconvenience and loss which the public has suffered, the board has decided to discontinue communications with the,union in the meantime. As an earnest of its desire to meet the increased cost of living since the prasent agreement was made, the board has decided to grant a war bonus of 7J per cent, on the total earnings, which include overtime. This will be given to all wage-earners, whether 'members of Hie Tramway Union 01* not, but, salaried officers will lie excluded. This represents a weekly increase of from 5s 3d to 7s per 1 week, in accordance with their earnings, and will cost the -board about£ssoo a year.
