CHEESE STORAGE.
CRITICAL SITUATION" JN WELLINGTON.
The question of eool storage of cheese for the ensuing season at Wellington has reached a, critical stage aa'cording to statements made at the Harhor Board meeting on Wednesday evening.' The chairman, Mr. Daniell, reported that Messrs Harkness,.. representing the Dairy Association, and Mr. Cuddy, from the Department ~of Agriculture, had made representations ; to him that,, additional provisions were..urgently' needed at once_ for the, eool storage of some £O,OOO crates of cheese. The.new Jlarbor Board shed, Which would be completed at the end of'.'.the ytiar, he thought, might have been adapted to.aecduimodalc the cheese. The'positionwith regard to the 7, store was that there were still 56,000 crates in the store from last season, but it may be reduced to 40,000 before the end of the. year; but by then accommodation will be required for 100,000 additional crates, and in January and February still more cheese would be coming in. The urgency of the position was only too obvious. The cheese, also, would become the property of the Imperial Government shortly. The members of the board, however, were not able to suggest any way out of the difficulty,
