PEACE DEMONSTRATIONS.

NEW PLYMOUTH AIUIAXGEME.NTS. Following are the proposed arrangements for demonstrations in the event of either Turkey or Austria surrendering:— (a) The demonstrations to take place in front of the Soldiers' Club, the Mayor to address the athering. The Citizens' Band to be invited to >be present.

(b) In the event of news coming through of any such surrender the Taranaki Daily News and Taranaki Herald will notify the town clerk. He in turn will notify tho secretary of the sash and door factory, who will give the signal for the Wowing of steam horns, etc., at the various factories m the town. The signal will ho given on the Sash and Door Company's horn by one long Wast followed by three short blasts repeated at intervals until taken up by the other horns. The Sash and Door Company will not give tho signal unless requested to do so by the Mayor or town ! clerk in person or in writing. The firehells will not ring except in the case of a general surrender, including that of Germany.

(c) If the horns are blown prior to noon the demonstration will tako. place at 2.30 "p.m. the same day. If blown after 12 noon the demonstration, will take place at 7.30 p.m. the same./day-, (d) The committee trust ..that , employers will give their employees .every facility for attending the detiiopi'.v.' tions and will not make any di'dr.i-lmn from the employees' wages for time lost hi so attending. '■ • '

(e) If the news comes through after 5 p.m. the horns will not. be blown until 8 a.n\ the following morning.;'
