ANNUAL CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 24. The annual conference of tho New Zealand Alliance opened this morning. Delegates were present from all parts of the Dominion. The President, in his address, referred to the world-wide movement against alcohol, and mentioned the growth of prohibition in Canada and the United States. The animal report made congratulatory reference to the reduction of liours of sale of liquor, also to the regulation requiring bars to be closed on the arrival of returning soldiers, also to the fact that liquor, as a was not allowed in ramps, on troop trains, transports and hospital ships. Mention iva; also made of the decreasing number oT convictions for drunkenness, and it was said that this was due to the lesser number of liours of sale.
