OPENING OF NJ£W PLYMOUTH CLUb. The opening of the season at the New Plyihoum (jmo's green took place yesterday afternoon. The conuiuons, so tar as tne weatiier was concerned, were anyiiiing but lavorable. Tnere was, however, a good attendance, including a nuiuner 01 visitors, and an enjoyable afternoon was spent in a President's v. Vice-President's match, the scores being (iti all. The president (Mr. W. P. Brooking), iu an appropriate speech, declared the gTeen open, and in the course of doing so, complimented the green warden (Mr. Luseombe) on the condition of the green. Mr. Jackson, for the visitors, wished tae club a successful season. Mrs. A. K. Smart then rolled up the jack in orthodox fashion, and the green was declared formally opened for the season. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. Following is the result of the play:— President —Fairhall, Carnham, Jury, and C. N. Johnston (s) 17 f Thomson, Medley, Curtis, and Firth (s), 17; W. Rundle, O'Shea, Hill, and McNeill (s), 13; Perrin, Green, Woolett, and S, Bundle (s), 19. Total. 66. Vice-President —Hodson, Furlong, Starkey. and H.
