ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
THE MILLER'S FLAT TRAGEDY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. An inquest on George Racklev, who committed suicide after attempting to murder las wife, Mary Raekley, was opened at Miller's Flat, and, after formal evidence, was adjourned. The police report shows that the couple did not get on well together, and deceased, who was in ill-inearth, left Ormaglade Station with the intention of going to Lawrence Hospital, then to Dunedin, where he intended to live with his relatives. He returned to Ormaglade a fortnight later, and entered a cookhouse, where his wife was alone. She remarked, "So you've returned. He replied:'"Yes, and I'll do for you now." He lifted the meat chopper "and attacked his wife, inflicting severe injuries hefore she escaped- Raekley went out and threw himself in a creek, but changed his mind about drowning, and lay down and cut his throat, with fatal result-.!. Teh wife is progressing favorably.
DIED AFTER TEETH EXTRACTION. Dunedin, Last Night. Hazel May Vivian, aged 13, died unexpectedly yesterday. Slie had lier teeth extracted on the previous day under an anaesthetic, and afterwards complained of feeling ill, and died about 24 hours subsequent to the operation.
