PIERROTS' FANCY DRESS BALL.

The Pierrots' Committee were very busy last night preparing the Coronation Hall for the big ball that takes place there tonight, and is already being looked upon as the event of the season. The ball, when the decorations were completed, presented a remarkably pretty sight, witli its many-colored electric iights and other decorative effects, which will be much enhanced to-night by the beautiful and, in many cases, also fanciful costumes of the dancers. The judge (Mrs. P. E. Jefcoate) arrived from Wanganui last night by the mail train, and the fact that she is a stranger should assure competitors that the merit of the costume, and not the personnel of the wearer, will he the deciding factor. The supper arrangements—an important feature of the gathering—are under the control of Mrs. Burgess, and Pierrots are asked to help by donating supper and also by assisting in collecting the same. The music will be provided by the Citizens' Band and Mrs- George's orchestra, a sufficient guarantee that it will he excellent, and as the M'sC. thoroughly understand their duties, everyone, whether well known or a complete stranger, can be assured of a welcome and a pleasant evening. i
