LABOR TROUBLES
AT RIVJvRDALE FACTORY. Says the Hawera Star:— During the past two or three weeks an agitation, it is reported, lias been engineered to ?et the casual bands at several South Taranaki cheese factories to demand an increase of Wages or. in the alternative, to cease work. At all the factories, save one, the pronosal was reiected, and the men decided to remain at their work. At Riverdale, however, the ten casual hands presented a "round robin" to the directors demanding an increase of wages from lis to 12s fid per dav. The directors met, and after due consideration, declined to accede to the demand, whereupon the whole of the casual bands gave notien nf t'hr-ir intention to leave work in a week's time They went out on Friday morning laat. nntf pending the nrrivdl of other casual hnnds who p.re coining from Wellington nnrt kelson. several of the directors and suppliers volunteered to carry on the
