We had a fair yarding of young cattle and dairy heifers and cows. The whole yarding was quitted at satisfacprices at the hammer or immediately •afterwards. Prices: store cows £b lis, £7 as; 2-year empty heifers £6 Bs, £7; yearling heifers £3 2s 6d, £3 7s fid, £3 9s, yearling steers 39s up to £4 10s; springing heifers, backward, £8 los up to £l2; dairy cows £lO up to £l6 10s.

On Thursday t'be 10th inst., we held our first sale since the autumn in our Kohuratahi yards. We had a fair yarding of young cattle, store cows and hoggets. Bidding was satisfactory and most lines were quitted at the hammer at satisfactory values. On Monday 14th inst. we held our annual bull fair in our Stratford yards. The (ftemand was not as keen as last season, but really good Jerseys and Shorthorns mae good values. 15 months Shorthorns made good values. 15 months guineas, 15 months Jersey bulls up to 11 guineas, 15 months to 2-year Holstein bulls 7J to 15 guineas, I year pedigree Jersey bull 40 guineas. 3-year Shorthorn bulls 14J and 15 guineas. On Tuesday loth inst." we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards. We ! had a full yarding, mostly of yearling steers and heifers. These sorts were dull of sale and failed to reach reserves. Dairy cows and heifsold really well and made very satisfactory values, especially well conditioned 3-year heifers of good quality. Store cows £5 ss, £5 14s, £8 Bs, £9 6s; 2-year empty heifers £5 15s up to £7 7s 6d; 2 to 2J-year steers £7 10s up to £9 for pick; yearling to 15 months heifers £3 9s, £4 lis, £5 7s 6d; 15 months steers £3 12s to £5; shorn hoggets, in good condition, 23s 6d; springing heifers £l2 up to £l7; dairy cows up to £l7. On Friday 18th inst. we held our usual monthly sale in our Matau yards. A fair proportion of t/lie advertised stock came forward but the day Hing terribly wet and rough there was not a very keen enquiry for anything except good springers. 2-year empty heifers £6 2s, store cows £7 10s, 2 to 2J-year springing heifers, backward, £9 up to £l4. Dairy cows £ls 10s.

Heavy ox advanced }d per lb, iijrht and medium at late rates. Cows were y R d to 3d better all round. Calfskins were again in keen demand and advanced 2d pen lb al! the best lines realised 21 ?d to 22' Ad. This works out at 8s 6d to 10s Ad for heavyweights and fls lOd to 8s for lighter ports.
