Jt was common rumor in Dunedin the other day t'liat Turkey, following. Bulgaria, had pulled out of the war. Tn some of the Dunedin city schools the announcement was made by the headmaster, the school flag was hoisted, the National Anthem being sung and, the children were given a Mf-holiday. The report was traced to a bookseller, who had stuck up on his window a large placard stating that "Turkey had surrendered unconditionally." He was told by a Dunedin Star reporter that this was incorrect, and that he was liable to prosecution under the war regulations, but ho persisted that his information was from a reliable source, and he was prepared to face tlic consequences.
