TREATMENT OF PRISONERS. LIST OF OFFENDERS KEPT. London, Oct. JO. In the House of Lords, Lord Youiiger drew attention to the olHcial rep&rts of Germany's treatment of prisoners.
Lord Xcwton said the Government recognised that prisoners had been treated with incredible brutality. We had been anxious to avoid reprisals, but realised that we should take advantage of the changed military situation .111 order to improve prisoners' treatment. A list of offenders had been kept, and he believed punishment could be exacted after the war.
The Primate said he had been against reprisals, but, in view of the official reports he was disposed to leave the Government the fullest freedom of action. — Aus.-N.Z Gable Assn.
