ENEMY SURPRISED BY AMERICANS. GERMANY BENDING BUT NOT BROKEN. Received Oct. 18, 3.10 p.m. Washington, Oct. 17) Tlie Americans captured Grand Pre after an attack without artillery support. They waded through the river Aire and surprised the enemy and. forced hia retirement, after a hand to hand struggle. Mr. Lansing lias issued a statement , that Germany is bending, but is far from broken. The war is not yet over. Every man for the gun and industry still counts.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
