.. RECRUITING IN IRELAND. London, Oct. W. The time limit for voluntary recruiting in Ireland has, expired. Mr. Shortt announces that 1)629 men have been re-cruited.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assoc. QUESTIONS BY PACIFISTS. London, Oct. 15. Mr. Bonar Law, in the House of Commons, replying to Mr. Houston, said it was not desirable to discuss piecemeal the conditions on which alone an armistice can be granted to Germany. Replying to Mr. Runeiman, he said he could not discuss the Herman-American communications until a. definite decision has been taken.
The Government, said Mr. Bonar law, possessed proof that the submarine which sank the Leinster received instructions to destroy the Anglo-Irish passenger service after Prince Maximilian sent his iirst Peace A'otc to President Wilson. It was probable that President Wilson knew this when he sent his reply with, reference to the atrocities. Mr. McKarnara stated the Leinster , was not escorted, because she had a ■speed of 23 knots.—Aua.-N.Z. Cable .Assoc..
