SIGNS OJ? AN ABAIEMENT. ■ Received Oct- 16, 730 p.ui. Capetown, Oct. 15. There are evident signs of an abatement in influenza here, but it is spreading rapidly in the country districts;. Johannesburg reports no abatement. Kiinberley's death-roll exceeds 3000. The Government has decided to close all places of entertainment throughout the Union.

An official statement says thjit steamers arrived in Capetown on September 1-2 with 43 cases on board The passengers were isolated, and not till the first week of October did Capetown develop the epidemic in its ;>restnt proportions.
