In moving tbe adoption of the report, tbe superintendent remarked that the brigade had had three calls during the year, the most serious being that which occurred in Mr Herbert's buildings The annual competition between the Stratford and Eltham Brigades resulted in the shield being retained by Stratford, the brigade winning two of the three events. During the year the brigade had passed under the control of the Borougli Council, and would for the future be known as tbe Stratford Municipal Fire Brigade. Owjig to the war making so ?jianv calls upon the public, the brigade had not been before ratepayers except on rare occasions, hut tbe support held always been of a generous character. He welcomed tbe Mayor, councillors, and others to the meeting, and trusted that the present good relations existing would continue. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers- saw all those officials of last year re-appointed as follows: —Superintendent, T. Grubb; lieutenant, A. -1. Davcy; foremen. A. Moon i and W Rowson; secretary, W Payton; treasurer, A. Moon; auditors, Messrs C D Sole and A. BurmeWter.
At the conclusion of the ordinary business those present adjourned to the supper rooms, where a number of toasts were honored, the Mayor and others expressing appreciation of the high standard of efficiency to which the brigade had been brought by the members, win were deserving of the greatest credit for their voluntary work. In the course of the speeches, it was mentioned that Foremen Moon and Bow--son. Secretary Pay ton and Firemen -T Pearee and J. Henrv had fit tended every meeting and call during the year, and the Mayor, noting that no trophies had been received durin? the year for this purpose, announced Ins intention of jiving five medals, the announcement being much appreciated by the brigade.
