A French communique says: The 10th British army this morning entered Laon, liberating 6500 civilians. ENTRY INTO LAON.
GENERAL MANGIN CARRIED! SHOULDER HIGH. GERMANS TAKE HOSTAGES. Received Oct. 15, 7.45 p.m. Paris, Oct. 14. General Mangin had a triumphal entry into Laon on Sunday afternoon. The inhabitants welcomed him en masse, weeping for joy, and sliouting: "Vive le Libertateur," carried him shoulder high to the town hall, where the deputymayor received him, the Germans having taken the mayor and 3UO citizens a3 hostages Laon is less damaged than was Cambrai or St. Quentin.—Aus. DOUAI SURROUNDED. London, Oct. 14. Sir Douglas Haig reports: On Saturday afternoon tiiie enemy opened a hea.vv bombardment on a wide front northward of Le Cateau, launching strong infantry attacks on our position eastward of tho Sella river, in the neigrborhood of Solesmes. These attacks were successfully repulsed, after stiff fighting.
