(From Our Own Correspondent ) Waiiara, Oct. 15. Tllero is a movement in Lubor circles here iol' the iorniatioii of a co-operative bakery, with the idea of obtaining cheaper bread- The originator of the scheme is Mr. T. Taylor, who considers tha,t under his proposals it will be possible to sell bread at Sd per large loafIt is proposed to issue £ 1 shares, the maximum number allowed to one holder being five. I understand that it will be possible to purchase one of the bakerice now operating. Tile state of the borough's finances is causing some concern in the town, and it is just possible that the ratepayers will wake up and see that affairs are managed in future by a capable bady Under the circumstances, they are to blame, for in the past little or no interest has been taken in public matters by those directly concerned. The work of repairing the south wall of the river by the Harbor Board is proceeding slowly, owing to the many difficulties that have to be met. It is hoped that the work will prove effective, for the eost is already heavy The School Committee met last night, and it was decided that the new swimming bath should be officially opened in December, although it will be available for use next month It was arranged that the annual concert should be held the same evening. The difficulty in regard to the awarding of the Mayor' 3 prize was overcome by the passing of a resolution agreeing to award the prize in accordance with the wish of the donor, and not that of the headmaster.
