It is safe to pi edict a crowded house for Thursday evening, when the New Plymouth Male C'lioir provides an entertainment, the proceeds going towards the town Copper Trail. Sixty members are expected to make the journey, returning home the same night. A dance follows, and as extremely low prices are being charged, this should al::o lead to much improved figures for the Red Cross appeal. A conference that should attract considerable attention throughout Taranaki will be lieid here on Thursday afternoon, the occasion being an endeavor to form a Taranaki Hydro-Electric League. Delegates from boroughs and county councils and road and town boards are expected to be present.
On Friday a sitting of the Stratford Court will be held before the S.M. Stratford County Council meets on •Saturday. There are no burning questions before the council this month, so perhaps councillors may surprise themselves with a short session instead of the usual five to six hours' sitting. On Saturday the Copper Trail contest comes to a conclusion, and although the town has never been in the hunt, the aggregate result promises to be very satisfactory to town and district. For the final flutter it is expected to have a combined street appeal on behalf of the fund. The organiser (Mr. J. S. Rowe) and tilie ladies' committee would be pleased to have the assistance of several young ladies for street collecting that day. This is an opportunity for the Aotea Hockey Club players to show their enthusiasm for a good cause by taking up the work.
To those who appreciate keen prices and are on the look-out for best value in i seful goods, we can strongly recommend a visit to tlfe jewellery and fancy goods store of Mr. C. E. .Tames.
