\YAKD.—In loving memory of Private C, It. Ward, who was Jailed in action at the Battle of Messlnes, on October 4, 19X7, leaving New Zealand with tlio 21st Reinforcements. It's just a year ago to-day since over tho sea Die aad message came. Killed In action the cable said, that is all the tale they tell, for he gave up bis weak young manhood that a stronger one might live, for we know he did his duty bravely, and under the Allies' flags he fell. —lnserted by his mother, father, sisters and brothers. Sleep on, dear brother, and take your rest; Our God called you when he thought bsst; Tour heart was good; your spirit; brave; And your resting-place, a soldier's grave. —lnserted by his returned brother (Private E A. Ward), who lost his left hand In tho um battle.
