MOTORING AND CYCLING.

EGMONT MOTOR CYCLE RACES. Tho programme for the Egmont Motor Cycle Club's races to be held on November 20 on the Hawera racecourse, provides liberal stakes for the various events and the meeting now ranks with tlhe foremost in New Zealand. Altogether the stakes for the five professional races amount to £7l, and also a valuable silver cup to the winner of the light championship of New Zealand, which has been allotted the club. There are also three races reserved for amateurs, for which yaluable trophies have been allotted. The star item on the programme is the Taranaki Handicap of 15 laps, the winner of which will receive £2O, second £4, third £1 and wastest time £2. The light-weight championship is worth £5 to the winner, besides the valuable silver eup. As all the other races are well endowed, the various events are sure to fill well and some good racing should be witnessed. Given a fine day the returned soldiers "Big Push" fund (tho committee of which are co-operating witfli the cycle cluh in running the meeting) should greatly benefit thereby.
