FURTHER PROGRESS. GREAT CAPTURES MADE. London, Oct. 9. Palestine-Syria official: Our cavalry on October 6 occupied Zahle and Rayak, respectively 33 and 30 miles northwestward oE Damascus. We captured considerable rolling stock, ammunition, and engineer stores. The enemy has evacuated Beirut and retired northwards. We occupied Saida (the ancient Sidon) unopposed.
