Board:— " Routine work continues at Hawei'a, Stratford and New Plymouth as in previous reports. Only two attend at Hawera Technical College Agricultural class on Fridays, due to transfers to other classes. Frankley, Kent, Central 3, Ngaere, Midhirst, Bell Block, Hillsborough 2, Mangatoki, Matapu, Okaiawa, Tokaora, Manaia, Otakeho, Kapuni, iiaponga, Mahoe, Lower Mangorei, and Waitui schools have Seen visited. A gc n d deal of time has been devoted to preparing the ground and in planting operations. Unfortunately the weather has greatly interfered with the work. Mr Connell reports:—l paid a short visit to several of the schools in South Taranaki, and was agreeably surprised at the high standard of work carried out in most of them. The gardens and surroundings were worthy of special mention, and the teachers are to be congratulated on the results they have obtained. It would undoubtedly be of advantage to teachers throughout the district were they able to visit these schools and see what is being done as regards agricultural matters. Schools worthy of special note are Matapu, Okaiawa, Tokaora, Otakeho, Kaponga, Malioe, and Mangatoki. Good work under difficulties is being done at Huirangi and New Plymouth Central. New Plymouth Boys' High Sdhool. —A great deal of work has been .lone here, including top-dressing with lime and superphosphate," both lucerne and pasture, the planting, and subsequent treats ment of potatoes, and sowing "of root crops in season. The lads are notably keen, and good work is undoubtedly being done. Donations.—Through Mr Donnell a donation of lupin seeds has been received from the manager of the Horticultural station at Tauranga. These are for green manuring trial at Central. Bev. Simmons, of Wesly Training College, Auckland, also forwarded seed of pohutukawa.. These have been handed over to the High School Class. General.—All vegisters, etc., a3 'far as possible have been completed, and instructors made familiar with the carrying on of the work of our secondary and primary classes. A schedule is attached of the suggested schools rural section at our district shows. This has been forwarded to all concerned.
