Bex Beach's greatest play," "The Auction Block," which commences a' twonight season to-night, is the life stor.v of a beautiful girl, who is raised by her parents for the specific, purpose of being placed for sale to the highest bidder in the. matrimonial market. In due course of time she meets the dissolute son of a millionaire, and, in accordance with the family plan, marries him. . It so happens, however, that the young man is not as wealthy as was at--first supposed, and when the girl learns this, and he finds that he has been duped, they go their separate ways, Lorelei becoming queen of the night world in which she lives. Things go from bad to worse, and at last Lorelei leaves her husband, who is now at the lowest depths of despair. This is the tiling needed to bring him to his senses, and he sets himself to work for but one thing, to win his wife's love. From this situation develops an ending that is as thrilling as it is eminently satisfactory, bringing tho young couple together witha full understanding and appreciation of the path of rectitude.
