The Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting will be advanced another stage tn-day, the principal event being the .Metropolitan Handicap, of 20 sovs. each, ith 4000 sovs. added money, the distance being a mile and a half. The New Hollanders engaged are Etland, Bunting, Bee, Arch Marella, Killowen, Kilhope, and Decorate. At latest advices from Sydney, Kennaquhair, Prince Viridis, Estland, Lingle, Poitral and Thana were the most favored ones. Estland 'has only to go to tlie post at his best to give pe best of them a good warming up.
Nothing of importance dropped out of tlie New Zealand Cup 011 Friday evening, twenty-five horses being paid up for. The defections include Teka, Bed Ribbon, Glendower, Thaddeus, Sedd-el-Bahr, Flectham, Paddington Greeu, Sweet Tipperary, Hiero and liraid. It is undoubtedly a fine acceptance. Client lias a steadier of 9.13 in the Masterton Cup, but' tlie' Fordell horse is in great heart, and is a likely starter. Possibly the Aucklander, Mangamahoe, may prove lis toughest opponent. Croesus is highly assessed in the Flying Handicap at Masterton, having been placed 41b above Hymestra. The field is worthy of a Stewards' Handicap, and whatever beats Acre, Hymestra, and the lightly-weighted Royal Chef will have to shake a log. The minor events should keep the public busy. Gladful looks a cut above the crowd in the Ladies' Purse, and Wapping, Matatua, Form Up and Kipling appear to be well treated in the other i-aces.
