The two 'houses erected by Messrs Borthwick and Sons, Ltd., for the use of Freezing Works employees are now [Bearing completion. _ ; The following men from Waitara will ileave for camp on Wednesday next: — Messrs G. Fear (Borough Overseer), L. Andrews and G. W. Mellar. They will be farewelled at a social on Monday evening next. The Fanners' Co-operative Organisation Society have taken-over the premises of tiie Mokau Coal and Estates Company in West Quay for the purpose of commencing operations in the district. The first wool clip of the season arrived here for valuation this week, practically the whole of last season's woo) still remains to be shipped. I regret to learn that Private C. F. | Turner, Machine Gun Corps, who was in business ibere .as a jeweller prior to enlisting, has (lied of wounds received on the Western Front. The Seaside Improvement Society are holding a long night social on the 11th of this month*
