FIGHTING ON ASIAGO PLATEAU BRITISH DESTROY DEFENSIVE WORKS. Received (Oct. 7, 1.5 ja m-' London, Oct. 5. i 'Aji Italian official message states that ttye British broke into the enemy's ljues at Ave, on the Asiago plateau, and destroyed defensive wftrka. The enemy attacked northward of Mount Grappa, on the Mount Solarolt front, at the head of Stiiwon valley, and obtained a foothold in our post at Malgavalpez, suffering heavy losses. Air activity was intense. We brought down four aeroplanes. In Albania we have passed Ljusna. _ In Macedonia the Bulgarians facing our positions surrendered at Sop, on the Monastir —Kicevo Road. The surrender began on Thursday; 191 officers (whereof two are brigade commanders) and 7218 of other ranks have already been counted, also eight guns, seventy machine guns and other material. —Aus. and N.Z.
