The executive meeting was held last evening, Mr. J. W- Boon presiding. A leiter was received from tiie Returned Soldiers' Association urging that preference be given to returned men in the appointment of gatekeepers. E. A. S. Browne, agricultural instructor to the Education Board, forwarded some suggestions re rural work. Owing to the schedules being now in the Lands of the printer, the suggestions could not be utilised this show. Stratford Town Band will he in attendance on People's Day. Judges were appointed as under:— Sheep: W. Peiry (Masterton); draught horses, A. Hunter (Hawera); thorough'bred, J. Campion (Fordell); hacks, Hocken (Feilding); homo industries, Trimble (Inglewood); art section, Mrs. J. Sutherland (Inglewood). On Thursday a working tee was held in the A- and P. Association'sgrounds, where an enthusiastic band accomplished a lot of good work re-erecting pens, etc. COUNTRY COPPER TRAIL. Everything depends upon the weather to-morrow (Saturday) for the success of the men's day at the Patriotic Shop and Tea Rooms. The tables will be la'td continuously from early morning till late in the evening. Patrons can rely on getting god value for their money, which will go towards the Red Cross appeal. A very successful ball was held in the Town Hal! last evening, organised by the Stratford Foothball Ciub, the members having used the most of their spare moments in preparing a floor that proved an ideal one- The. music was a feature .of the dance, and was supplied by Messrs C. H. Fox (piano), J. McAllister (double bass), D. McAllister (violin), C. H. Peun (violin), H. Burmeister (cornet), T. Wilson (trombone), and AVinsen (drums). The secretary (W. Kivell) and his committee deserve every credit for the fine results achieved, and as a result the Roll of Honor fund should be considerably augmented. A final reminder is given of the thanksgiving service to be held in the Town Hall on Sunday afternoon. This will afford an opportunity to all to pay tribute to the magnificent work done by our troops. It is requested that parents nhall attend and have control of their i children. The service will commence at ISO p.m. On Thursday evening next the Fire Kriga.de intend holding a plain and fancy i dress ball in aid of their funds. Since , the war a good deal of the revenue usually raised to keep the brigade going has been> diverted into other channels, and the members do not desire to canvass, hence the decision to hold a ball as a means of replenishing the exchequer. Substantial prizes are being given for the waltzing competition, whilst trophies will also be presented for best and most original costumes, both ladies and-gen-tlemen-
