ADDINGTON MARKET. I Chrlstchurcli, Oct. 2. At Aldington market today there were again moderate entries of fat stock and fair entries In other departments. Fat cattle were vecy firm, a considerable proportion of the offerings not being well finished, fat Bheep were irregular, the market opening well and closing weaker, but the average was about the same as last week. A large portion of the yarding came from South Canterbury and North Otago and some of these lines of heavy sheep lacked finish. Fat lambs were penned in larger numbers, and brought lower prices. Store sheep and store cattle were dull of saio on account of the backwardness of feed. There was a fair demand for dairy cows, and all classes of pigs sold well. Store Sheep.—Sound mouth ewes 2Cs 6d, with lambs 21s Id (all counted), failing mouth ewes with lambs 13s 6d (all counted), 2-tooth wethers 325, 2 and 4-tooth wethers 33s lld„ 4 and C-tooth wethers 37s 5d to 41s 9d, ewe hoggets 325, mixed sex hoggets 23s 2d to 34s 3d, wether hoggets 283 Id. Fat Lambs.—Prime 24s to 28s, lighter 20s to 23s 6d. Fat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers to 60s, prime wethers 42s to 48s, medium wethers 38s to 41s Gd, lighter wethers 35s to 37s 6d, merino wethers 37s 9d to 4Cs 3d, ewes 34s 6d to 395, hoggets 28s 6d to 38s 6d. Fat Cattle.—Extra prime steers to £2B 10s, prime steers £2O to £25, ordinary steers £l2 17s 6d to £l9 15s Cd, extra prime heifers £2O ss, prime heifers £ls 10s to £l7, ordinary heifers £8 2s 6d to £ls ss, primp cows £lO to £l6 12s 6d, ordinary co\tb, £lO to £ls 15s. Store Cattle.—Yearlings £4 to £5 10s, 2year steers £7 lfls to £9 ss, 2-year heifers £6 to £7, forward 3 and 4-year heifers £ll 3s to £ll 7s fid, dry cows 30s to £8 15s, dairy cows £0 10s to £ls 10a. Pigs.—Choppers £7 to £9 12s Cd, extra heavy b&coners £B, heavy bnconers £6 10a to £7 12s Cd, lighter baconers £5 5s to £6 (equal to 9 to lOd per lb), heavy porkers 75s to Rss, light porkers 56s to 70s 6d (equal to lid to lUfed per lb), best stores to £3 10s, medium £2 8s to £2 15s, smaller 34s to 445, weaners 23s 6d to 355. BTJRNSIDE MARKET Dunedin, Oct, 2. At Burnside to-day 221 fat cattle were yarded. The quality was good, but some of the biggest bullocks were on tlio bare side. Values declined by from 10s to 15s. Extra prime heavy bullocks to £27 10s, prime £2O to £23, medium £lB to £l9 10s. others £lf> upwards, extra heifers to £l9, prime cows and heifers to £l4, medium £ll 10s to £l3 10s, others £ll 30s. Sheep —3298 were penned. The average drop in values was about 2s Gd Graziers steadied the market for unfinished sheep, but the entry of fats exceeded requirements. Extra heavy i prime wethers 50s to 54s 9d, prime 44s to 48s, medium 40s to 43s 6d, light 35s to 395, extra ewes to 53s 3d, heavy 42s to 555, others 35s to 40s. Lambs.—Six were penned, realising 28s to 28s 3d.
