WEATHER REPORT.

MR MONi OF SEPTEMBER. (Recorded at Pukokura Park Meteorolog'cal Station; altitude, 160 feet.) Being the month of the vernal equinox, the strong, chilly equinoctial winds began on the 2nd, and were frequent during the month. The temperatures were lower and more hurried with much colder nights than during any corresponding month for the last ten years. Excepting on the 30th the fresh to strong chilly winds blew from southern points throughout the month. The chilly rains borno by the winds and the hoavy snowfalls on Mt. Egmont, on nine days, have greatly retarded the growth of nearly all vegetation, which is fourteen days later than in average normal seasons. Hall fell on the lowlands on four days, and thunder occurred on one day. Visibility was prominent on 3 mornings preceding rain storms. Cloudiness ranged from 2 on 8 days to 10 on 2 (sunless) days. Following were the records of the month: Maximum thermometer 64deg. on Ist, 54deg. on Bth. Minimum thermometer: 48deg. on 29th, 38deg. on 14th and 29th. Maximum wot bulb: 50deg. on Ist and 29th; 46deg. on 7th and 19th. Minimum wet-bulb; 47dog. on 29th, 39dog. on 19th. Solar radiator (sun's heat): HOdeg. on Ist, 122deg. on 2nd and Oth. Terrestrial thermometer (3in. from grass): 35deg. on 27th, 4!idcg. on 4th. Sunshine recorder: lhr. Suilu. on 22nd; lOhr, 35min. on 27th. Total, 175 hr. 22mln. The 2nd and 6th were sunless days. Rainfall: 144 points on 17th; 1 point on 26th; total, 5.014 in. Wind: S 8, S.E. 9. S.W. 12, W. 1 day.
