WORK OF NEW ZEALAND DIVISION. Wellington, Oct, 2. Sir James Allen has received a letter from Sir Alexander Godley, dated August 9. General Godley states: "The division has had practically no fighting at all since Passchendaele last October, and therefore is one of the divisions strongest and fittest in every way. Now the tide has turned I hope to have an opportunity of using the New Zealanders in pursuit of the Bosche. I am sorry the Division was not with me down in the Champagne. The only New Zealand representatives were a squadron of Otago Mounted Rifles, a cyclist battalion, and the New Zealand members of my staff. The fighting recently became open warfare. One thing you may be sure of is that, broadly speaking, everything connected with the Expeditionary Force has gone extremely well, and we are quite satisfied with all that has been done for us."
