UNITED STATES.

WOMEN'S SUFFRAGE.

ADVOCATED BY PRESIDENT.

Washington, Sept. 30.

Addressing the Senate, where a difference of opinion on Women's Suffrage is prevailing, President Wilson advocated the early passage of the measure on the ground of national efficiency in war time. The President pointed out that both parties had agreed on women's suffrage. This was the people's war, and they therefore must unite the people in the prosecution of it. The United States would be unable to profess democracy abroad unless it practised it at home. President Wilson added that through manv channels intimations had reached the White House that the people's real views were unheeded among the voices of agitators, but lie realised that the time had come when, if democracy was to continue beneficently, women must be placed on the same footing as men—partners in war, and therefore partners in jeaee.—Aus. N'.Z. Cable Assoc, Received Oct 1, 2.35 p.m Washington, Sept. 30.

Referring to women's suffrage, Pres dent Wilson said that without the com sels of women the nation was only lial wise.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc.
