TARANAKI BY-ELECTION.
'MR. OONNETT AT BEU- BLOC& Mr. J. S. Connett, the National Government candidate, spoke at Bell Block last evening to a large attendance, which included representatives from the surrounding districts. Mr. H. Sampson, of Hillsborough, presided, and the candidate was gijven an attentive hearing, and at the conclusion a motion'was unanimously passed, to the effect that Mr. Connett was a fit and proper person to 'represent the constituency in Parliament.
