HOCKEY.
AOTEA (STRATFORD) v. HAWEKA TECHNICAL COLLEGE. For the third time this year, teams representing the above clubs met at Hawere oil Saturday to decide the championship, and once more a drawn game resulted, each side scoring one goal, a>ul, after a further eight minutes' play, the referee (Rev. R. B. Tinslev) sounded "Cease play.' The afternoon was a trille too warm for the player.?, who were all ''done to a turn" at the close of tiie bout. Ifawcra notched the first score, a shot by M. Hobbs striking tiie foot of Miss Scott (Stratford) and going through. Before the spell concluded, V. Sangster evened the scorn for Stratford, who were unlucky, losin,; at leas! tv.o other goals. Ida Boon was probably the best back in the grounds and i'lTiuu'iil \\' broke up a Blue atrack whilst: the Green ijuartette, N. and V. Sangster, P. Wells, and Curtis, combined very well. The Hawera girls showed a good knowledge of the game, whilst •Tean Robertson as full-back gave an excellent display of free and accurate placing A good number of enthusiasts attended, witnessing what proved to be the be-t match of the season- After Saturday's play, honors are, surely, even, and might well be left so tjll next year.
