WHAREROA. (From Our Own Correspondent) On Friday, the 13th in3t,, there was a large gathering in the local hall to do honor and to bid farewell to Privates '•?. Hicks and F. Henry, wlio are leaving for the front. Both young soldiers are very popular, and as Private Hicks had spent his life here th.> proceedings were marked with enthusiasm. The evening was spent in dancing to music supplied by Mrs. Tic'iton., wit', extras by Messrs Murphy and Leatham. Mr. B. Bloor capably acted as M.C Mr. Bowlins was doubly foeafied for his fine singing of "The Sunshine cf Yorr Smile," and also for two corn's songs be sang. The ladies provided a bountiful supper. During an iiirervaJ. Mr. A Ro-osrtson, at chairman, delivered a fine patriotic address, eulogising the many goi d qualities of the departing guests. During his farnrng here Private F.
