ONCE AGAIN.

There's another great effusion On that subject getting stale-* Shall the Jersey or the Friesiau Be the cow to fill the pail--#! The writer of this letter, Having nothing fresh to say Merely gives us his opinion That the Jersey wins the day. Oh, ye Taranaki farmers. Now I wonder did you laugh When you read about his Jersey love And her dreamy little calf; When you read his mass of figures On the Jersey-Friesian fight, How he loved his little sweetheart With her dainty appetite, When he tells us how the Friesian— l That ugly massive brute — | Will mop up all the farmers' slops 1 And even chew his boots; How it roama about the paddock With a scorn for grass; that's fine. As it eats up all the washing That is hanging on the line. Now, ye Taranaki farmers Here's a chance to make your pile, For if our friend, F. E. ia right. Why the Friesian's worth yo.ur while. For the cow that eats up anything Milks well on slops for feed Will pay t|ie farmers better Than the dainty Jersey breed So I thank our friend from Stratford In this Jersey-Friesian fight For giving such a splendid boost To the famous black and white;' May he, never, never falter Or yet wander from the path In the worship of his Jersey love And her dreamy little calf. H. ,E. Koru, September, 81. [This correspondence is closed.—Ed.]
